New Business:

 

·          The Director opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance
 

 

·          Meeting minutes – motion passed to suspend reading of October minutes; minutes are posted on our
         Website as well as in the Canteen by the popcorn machine

 

·          Treasury report – Carla read the treasury report; motion passed to accept as read

o         Contact Carla to review copies of treasury report

 

·          Basket of Cheer – planning to raffle another basket of cheer for the holidays; $200 will go to the Children’s Christmas party and any remaining proceeds will go toward the Wounded Warrior Ride; bring bottles to Saturday’s cook-out; drawing will be New Year’s

 

·          Annual cook ou -scheduled for 11/5 at 6:00 in the patio

 


·         
Veteran’s Day – the Post is having a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 1:00; in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War, Korean War Veterans will be recognized; if anyone is available please attend to provide any help/assistance

 


·         
11/19 – Post 610 will be having an Elvis Show; pre sale tickets are available for $5 and will be $10 at the door; this is a fundraiser for the Rittman Run; committee is asking each Post to sell 25 tickets.  Motion was raised for us to buy five tickets then the motion was amended to buy an even number to give away as two prizes with the 50/50 raffle.  Members discussed then a motion was raised and passed to buy the 25 tickets and give four away at tonight’s 50/50 drawing; will try to sell the remaining tickets.

 

·          Post is having a tailgate party on 11/6; starts at 7:00 a.m.; bring a side dish

 


·         
The Post is having a Veteran’s Day Dance on November 12th; information posted in hall

 


·         
Benefit for Werner Scheffler is scheduled 11/27, 3-6 at Jocko’s, 1100 West Royalton Road; this is a benefit for George’s daughter’s family to help the family with the costs of medical bills and other expenses.  Reverse raffle tickets are $50 (pre-sale, only 50 being sold); general tickets are $25 pre-sale or at the door.  Ticket includes pizza, pasta, wings, salad, domestic beer, well drinks, house wine and soda.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle, side boards, and Chinese raffle baskets.

 

·          Ralf Tharpe attended our meeting and thanked everyone who participated and read names at the National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony held in September; event taped and copies will be available; he also talked about the 2012 Rittman Run
 

 

·          Wounded Warrior Run

o         Run coordinator would like our Post be a stop on next year’s ride (4 stops – Orrville, Richfield, 
            Post 703, Medina)

o         Asking for a $200 donation up front to help defray the costs of advertising

o         Proceeds for this run go toward the Fischer House

o         As noted above, proceeds over $200 from the basket of cheer will go toward a donation for this event

o         Amy will bring a motion up at the upcoming Legion meeting for Post to donate $100

 


·         
This will be our last official meeting for the year; we will not meet in December or January.  We are planning a holiday get together at Uncle Mike’s for sometime in December – details tbd

 


·         
We will resume meetings starting February 1st and hold elections for the upcoming year:

 

o         Director – Aaron is seeking re-election

o         Vice Director – George is currently serving as acting vice director; said would seek re-election 
            but  if anyone else is interested he encouraged them to take a turn

o         Secretary - Dawn is stepping down and resigning as secretary

o         Treasurer – Carla is seeking re-election

  • Ed Straus’ wife passed away.  He does the newsletter and any printing for the Post

 

  • Post is having a tailgate party on 11/6; bring a side dish

 

  • POW/MIA Rittman Run – still looking for two volunteers

 

  • Pavilion update –
    • Looked into a grant through Lowe’s however Veteran’s organizations are not eligible
    • Funding still a bit short for the entire project; still need to raise approximately $4,000

 

  • Suggestion was made to host a 50’s Sock Hop after New Year’s

 

  • Interim Vice Director Position:
    • Effective until January
    • Director asked for nominees
    • George Lapp was nominated
    • Motion passed
